Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders: Parents Should Be Terrified of COVID-19 Mandate Resurgence
Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R-AK) has issued a strong warning to parents as a new variant of COVID-19 continues to circulate across the country. In an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, Sanders expressed her concern over the possibility of reintroducing mask mandates and school closures.
“The data we are seeing just on the school closures alone should terrify parents that they are even considering these things again,” Sanders said. “We know how many kids lost so much growth and achievement in their schools over the last couple of years because of the shutdowns, because of the mask mandates.”
Sanders firmly stated that Arkansas would not entertain the idea of implementing such measures, joining other Republican governors who share the same stance. She emphasized that the state is overwhelmingly against bringing back COVID-19 mandates.
While the Biden administration has not called for the reinstatement of COVID-19 mandates, several conservative leaders, including Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), have preemptively declared that they will not enforce any mandates in their states.
Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) made it clear that COVID-19-related mask mandates will never return to Florida. At a press conference, he emphasized the state’s commitment to “freedom” and stated, “Mandates, lockdowns, fines — we’re just not doing that. They are not effective.”
As the debate surrounding COVID-19 mandates continues, it is evident that these Republican governors are determined to prioritize individual freedom and oppose any measures that they believe are ineffective.
