Haley knocks Trump over North Korea ‘friendliness’ ahead of Kim-Putin meeting
Presidential candidate Nikki Haley slams Biden and Trump over North Korea-Russia meeting
Presidential candidate Nikki Haley has criticized both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump for their handling of North Korea’s ambitions in response to an upcoming meeting between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In a statement, Haley, who previously served as U.N. ambassador under the Trump administration, expressed her concerns about the meeting, stating that both Biden’s “weakness” and Trump’s “friendliness” have failed to deter North Korea’s actions.
“The Kim-Putin partnership is another sign that the dictators of the world are united,” Haley said. “The tyrants who lead China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea hate America and our values. We must take their threats seriously. Neither Joe Biden’s weakness nor Donald Trump’s friendliness to Kim have changed North Korea’s direction for the better. These dictators only understand strength.”
The White House did not provide a statement regarding the meeting, but Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung defended the former president’s record, emphasizing that under Trump’s leadership, no new wars were initiated due to the respect for America’s power and leadership.
The meeting between Kim Jong Un and Putin is expected to take place in Vladivostok, Russia, as the two leaders discuss a potential deal for munitions amidst Russia’s ongoing conflict with Ukraine.
Meanwhile, President Biden has requested an additional $40 billion in spending from Congress, with $24 billion allocated for Ukraine aid. However, there is growing skepticism among politicians from both parties regarding continued U.S. aid to Ukraine. The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, has even called for a halt to the aid until a clear plan to end the conflict in Ukraine is presented by the White House and Congress ensures responsible distribution of the aid.
Despite the debate surrounding Ukraine aid, Haley, known for her strong stance on national security, has expressed her support for continued military assistance to Ukraine.
