Prince Harry claims his family failed to support him after the death of his mother, Princess Diana.
Prince Harry Opens Up About Lack of Support Following His Mother’s Death
In a recent interview for his new Netflix series, “Heart of Invictus,” Prince Harry revealed that he felt unsupported by his family after the death of his mother, Princess Diana, in 1997. At the tender age of 12, Harry experienced a profound loss that left him without the necessary “support structure” to cope.
The Duke of Sussex, who served two tours of duty in Afghanistan, shared that his struggles with trauma began even before his Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) from his military service. Reflecting on his past, Harry acknowledged that the trauma he carried stemmed from the loss of his mother at such a young age, a pain he had never fully processed.
Prince Harry appears to take another jab at the Royal family by saying he didn’t have a support network after his return from Afghanistan.

Harry admitted that he had suppressed his emotions and avoided discussing his grief, much like many young people would. However, as time went on, the unresolved pain began to resurface, leaving him feeling overwhelmed and disconnected from his own emotions.
One of the biggest challenges for the prince was the lack of support he had during this difficult time. He longed for a support structure, a network of people who could understand and provide expert advice on what he was going through.
Like many who have experienced trauma, Harry didn’t realize the importance of seeking help for his mental health until much later in life. He candidly shared that it often takes hitting rock bottom before one considers therapy, wishing he had addressed his struggles earlier.
As the show progressed, Harry revealed that he began to work through his trauma around the age of 28. He described a transformative moment when his emotions, previously suppressed, started to surface, leading to a period of chaos and self-discovery.
Prince Harry, now married to former “Suits” actress Meghan Markle, has two children with her and currently resides in southern California. However, tensions between the royal couple and his family have been strained since their decision to step down from their senior roles in January 2020. Harry’s recent memoir, “Spare,” further strained relations as it delved into his complicated relationship with his brother, sister-in-law, and father.
