Former President Donald Trump: “I⁢ Did Nothing Wrong”

“What has taken place‍ here is⁢ a travesty of justice. ⁣We did ⁢nothing wrong. I did nothing wrong, and everybody knows it,”

Former President Donald Trump doubled down on claims of a “rigged” 2020 ⁤election⁢ after he was booked in⁤ the⁢ Fulton County jail on a sweeping racketeering indictment. Speaking in front of his signature Trump Force One jet ‍at the Atlanta airport, Trump ⁤addressed a‍ group⁣ of reporters in a brief media conference.

A “Really ‍Sad Day for America”

Calling it a “really sad day for America,” Trump expressed his disbelief at his arrest and the three indictments that‍ preceded it, stating that such events “should never happen.”

Trump⁢ reiterated his belief that the 2020 election was stolen from him and emphasized his right to challenge it⁤ without facing punishment. He⁤ criticized the ‍unprecedented nature of the situation, stating, “There’s never been anything like it in our country before. This is their way⁤ of campaigning. This ‌is their one instance and you have three other instances.”

Charges and Release

The former president faces 13 charges and has paid a $200,000 bond for his release. After surrendering on Thursday, he was released shortly after approximately 20 minutes. The Fulton County Sheriff’s ⁣Office confirmed that a mugshot was taken of him inside the jail.

Trump will remain on bail as long ⁤as he does ⁣not violate his bond conditions, which include refraining from using social ⁢media to send ⁣threats⁤ to ‍individuals involved in the case, including prosecutors.

Among the charges Trump faces are violating Georgia’s ⁣racketeering act, solicitation of violation of oath by public officer, conspiracy to commit impersonating a public officer, ‌conspiracy to commit forgery in ‍the first degree, false statements and⁣ writings, conspiracy to commit false statements and writings, filing false documents, and conspiracy to commit ⁢filing false documents.

There ‌are still eight co-defendants who‌ are required to⁣ turn themselves in before a noon deadline on Friday.
