Pittsburgh Police Respond to Active Shooting Situation in Garfield Neighborhood
Pittsburgh police are currently responding to an active shooting situation in the Garfield neighborhood. According to reports, “hundreds of rounds” have been fired on Wednesday morning.
Law enforcement officials have started evacuating residents from houses in the 4800 block of Broad Street. Pittsburgh Public Safety has urged those inside to shelter in place and call 911 to provide their address and location.
Massive Police Presence and Ongoing Gunfire
At 11:23 a.m. EDT, Pittsburgh Public Safety issued a warning about the situation, stating that it remains extremely active with shots still being fired. A reporter from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette described the scene as having a massive police presence and the sound of “hundreds of rounds” being fired.
According to WTAE, one deputy has been injured. A reporter on the scene reported hearing multiple shots fired at Dearborn Street and N. Millvale Ave.
