Lawyers Urge Trump to Cancel Press Conference on Election Fraud Claims
Lawyers representing former President Donald Trump are strongly advising him to reconsider holding a press conference where he plans to present evidence supporting his allegations of election fraud in Georgia.
In a statement shared on social media, Trump declared, “A Large, Complex, Detailed but Irrefutable REPORT on the Presidential Election Fraud which took place in Georgia is almost complete & will be presented by me at a major News Conference at 11:00 A.M. on Monday of next week in Bedminster, New Jersey. Based on the results of this CONCLUSIVE Report, all charges should be dropped against me & others – There will be a complete EXONERATION!”
Trump further expressed his frustration, stating, “They never went after those that Rigged the Election. They only went after those that fought to find the RIGGERS!”
However, recent reports from various news organizations suggest that Trump’s own legal team is advising him to cancel the press conference due to potential legal repercussions. ABC News, which first broke the news, reported that the event is now “very much in doubt.” Other reports indicate that some of Trump’s aides are still pushing for the conference to proceed.
The New York Times reported that the anticipated report, which Trump intends to release, is a comprehensive document exceeding 100 pages. It has been compiled by one of his communications aides, described as a “true believer” in the former president’s claims of election rigging and theft.
In response to Trump’s announcement, Georgia Republican Governor Brian Kemp took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to refute the allegations. He posted a screenshot of Trump’s statement and stated, “The 2020 election in Georgia was not stolen.”
Kemp emphasized the lack of evidence presented in court, saying, “For nearly three years now, anyone with evidence of fraud has failed to come forward – under oath – and prove anything in a court of law. Our elections in Georgia are secure, accessible, and fair and will continue to be as long as I am governor. The future of our country is at stake in 2024 and that must be our focus.”
