Report: FBI alerted by Trump’s Truth Social about 75-year-old man killed in subsequent raid.
A New Report Reveals Truth Social’s Role in Alerting FBI About Dangerous Posts
A recent report has shed light on the involvement of Truth Social, the platform founded by former President Donald Trump, in informing federal officials about a Utah man’s alarming posts. The man, Craig Deleeuw Robertson, was tragically shot to death during a confrontation with the FBI.
The incident took place at Robertson’s home in Provo, Utah, at around 6:15 a.m., just hours before President Biden’s visit to the state, according to NBC.
According to NBC, Truth Social had alerted the FBI in March about Robertson’s posts regarding Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. At the time, Bragg was investigating Trump, which later resulted in an indictment against him for falsifying business records.
WARNING: The following posts contain language that some readers may find disturbing
One of Robertson’s social media posts, shared on March 18, caught the attention of authorities. In the post, he wrote, “Heading to New York to fulfill my dream of [eradicating] another of George Soros [two-bit political hack] DAs.” The complaint, available on Newsweek’s website, detailed the disturbing nature of his threats.
The FBI National Threat Operations Center received a tip about the post from an undisclosed social media company, according to the complaint.
The complaint also highlighted multiple threats made by Robertson against President Biden, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, New York State Attorney General Letitia James, Vice President Kamala Harris, and others.
Neighbors of Robertson have expressed shock over the incident, stating that he seemed harmless. However, the FBI, which had previously engaged with Robertson over his posts, arrived at his residence two days after his threatening social media activity.
According to Jon Michael Ossola, a neighbor of Robertson’s, the situation escalated quickly. “We started hearing some weird noises, and we went around the corner. That’s when they started just kind of shouting, and there’s like a full SWAT team there,” he told Fox News.
Despite the agents identifying themselves, the confrontation continued. Ossola described the subsequent events, including flash bangs and gunshots.
Since the incident, family members and neighbors have attested to Robertson’s non-violent nature. They believe that he would never commit acts of violence over political disagreements.
The family released a statement expressing their frustration with the erosion of constitutionally protected freedoms and the overreach of the government. They emphasized that Robertson’s only means of protest was exercising his First Amendment right to free speech on the internet and social media.
The complaint against Robertson also highlighted his taunting of the FBI on social media, including posts where he mentioned the FBI’s attempts to interfere with his free speech rights.
It is clear that Truth Social played a significant role in alerting the FBI about Robertson’s dangerous posts. The incident serves as a reminder of the potential consequences of online threats and the importance of platforms taking responsibility for monitoring and reporting such content.
