FBI kills man accused of threatening Biden, DA pursues Trump case.
A Utah Man Who Threatened President Biden and Democrats Fatally Shot by FBI
A Utah man with a history of posting violent threats against President Joe Biden and other Democrats on social media was shot and killed by the FBI at his home in Provo, Utah. The incident occurred just hours before President Biden’s visit to the state.
The FBI attempted to serve arrest and search warrants at the residence when the incident unfolded. Craig Deleeuw Robertson, the subject of the warrants, was shot and killed during the encounter. Fortunately, no agents were injured during the operation.
Robertson’s social media history revealed a pattern of posts promoting violence against Democrats. In one Facebook post, he wrote, “Perhaps Utah will become famous this week as the place a sniper took out Biden the Marxist.” Another post mentioned his preparation for Biden’s visit, stating, “I hear Biden is coming to Utah. Digging out my old ghillie suit and cleaning the dust off the M24 Sniper Rifle. Welcome, Buffoon-in-Chief!”
A criminal complaint against Robertson highlighted his ongoing threats against various public figures, including Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, New York State Attorney General Letitia James, and Vice President Kamala Harris. The FBI had been monitoring Robertson closely since March 2023, following a post specifically targeting Alvin Bragg.
Despite a previous visit from the FBI, Robertson continued to taunt the agency on social media and make additional threats against Democrats. In one post, he stated, “To my friends in Federal Bureau of Idiots: I know you’re reading this and you have no idea how close your agents came to ‘bang.'” Another post mentioned the FBI’s attempt to interfere with his free speech rights, saying, “Hey FBI, you still monitoring my social media? Checking so I can be sure to have a loaded gun handy in case you drop by again.”
The fatal encounter between Robertson and the FBI underscores the seriousness of online threats and the need for law enforcement to take appropriate action to protect public safety.
