Donald Trump indicted again, pleads not guilty once more.

Donald Trump Pleads Not Guilty to Federal‌ Charges

Former President Donald Trump pleaded not guilty on Thursday to four⁣ federal‌ charges brought by⁢ special counsel Jack Smith.⁤ The charges allege that Trump coordinated with co-conspirators in ‍an ‌attempt to subvert the 2020 presidential election.

Trump ⁣made his plea at his arraignment, which took place ‌just two ⁤days after a federal ‌grand jury in Washington, D.C., voted to bring four felonies against him. The charges include conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official ⁣proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights, as stated in the 45-page indictment.

Arriving at the Courthouse

Trump ⁢traveled by plane from his home in‍ Bedminster, New Jersey,‌ and landed in ‍Washington, D.C. He entered the E. Barrett Prettyman Federal Courthouse through an underground entrance at around 3:15 p.m. Sporting his signature blue blazer and red tie, he appeared in the courtroom at approximately 3:50 p.m.

Inside the courtroom, 11 reporters⁢ were seated⁤ in the‌ back rows, while U.S. marshals and Secret Service agents stood past a wooden barrier⁢ near a table closer to ‌the judge’s ⁢desk.

Trump ⁢sat with his hands folded ⁤on top of a table, ‌engaging in frequent, brief conversations with his defense team.

The Arraignment Process

U.S. Magistrate Judge Moxila A. Upadhyaya presided over the arraignment. She began by reading the charges ⁢against Trump and ensuring he understood his rights.

When asked to state his‌ full name,‌ Trump replied, “Yes, your honor. Donald J. Trump. John.”

Trump stumbled when asked ⁤to⁢ state his ⁣age, saying, “Seven-seven. 77.”

The‍ judge then inquired if he had⁢ taken any medications or anything that would⁤ impair his ability to ‌respond, to which he replied, “No, I have not.”

Outside the courthouse, Save America PAC attorney ⁤Alina Habba delivered remarks condemning the case just minutes before ⁤the arraignment. She referred to it as a “deflection” from investigations into the Biden family’s‍ business ‌dealings and presented⁤ a timeline ⁣of dates to highlight how the Trump indictments seemed to overshadow key moments in the Biden investigations.
