Report: California lab storing dangerous pathogens operated illegally by Chinese individuals.
A Shocking Discovery: Illegal Virus Laboratory Uncovered in Central California
In a stunning revelation, investigators have uncovered an illegal warehouse in central California that was operating as a virus laboratory. The warehouse, located in Reedley, stored a range of dangerous pathogens, including HIV, chlamydia, E. Coli, streptococcus pneumonia, hepatitis B and C, herpes, rubella, and malaria. Shockingly, the facility also contained approximately 1,000 dead or dying mice.
The warehouse, operating under the name Prestige Biotech, was allegedly run by Xiuquin Yao, a Chinese national. Described as a “Chinese-run virus laboratory,” the facility has sent shockwaves through the community.
Previously, the warehouse was operated by Universal Meditech Inc., a now-defunct company. However, Prestige Biotech, Inc. took over the premises and established their own lab.
During the investigation, Wang Zhaolin, a representative from Prestige, revealed that the mice found in the warehouse were genetically engineered to carry the COVID-19 virus. This revelation added another layer of concern to an already alarming situation.
Joe Prado, assistant director of the Fresno County Department of Public Health (FCDPH), expressed his shock at the discovery, stating, “I’ve never seen anything like this in my 26-year career with the County of Fresno.” The warehouse contained over 800 different chemicals, many of which were categorized as unknown substances.
Reedley City Manager Nicole Zieba echoed Prado’s sentiments, saying, “I’ve been in government for 25 years, and I’ve never seen anything like this.” The magnitude of the situation was truly unprecedented.
Further investigation revealed that individuals were dumping waste into their bins at the facility, which would then be sent to the landfill. This raised concerns about the potential spread of hazardous materials.
Officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) discovered at least 20 potentially infectious viral, bacterial, and parasitic agents within the warehouse. Additionally, thousands of vials containing unlabeled fluids were found, further adding to the mystery.
In an attempt to gather more information, Prado engaged in an email exchange with David He, a representative of Prestige. However, He evaded questions and failed to provide documentation regarding licensed medical waste disposal and the storage of infectious agents. Prado expressed his frustration, stating that He was either unaware or intentionally misleading them.
In a letter to He, Prado highlighted the lack of a valid California address, which violated state regulations. He had provided addresses of empty offices and addresses in China that did not match any known maps of the area. Prado emphasized the importance of providing accurate information.
“Regarding 2A, no viable California address has been provided, which violates California Corporations Code Section 1700. Per that section, a California address must be provided that is a street address and has someone available at that address. First you responded with the addresses of empty offices, and when we asked for clarification you provided addresses in China that do not appear to correlate with any maps of the area. The Department is trying to work with you but it is increasingly difficult when it appears that you are not wanting to provide real information.”
The discovery of this illegal virus laboratory has left officials and the community in shock. David Luchini, a Fresno health official, summed up the sentiment, saying, “I’ve been with the department for 30 years, and I don’t recall a similar situation.” The investigation into this unprecedented case continues.
