Kellyanne Conway asks Fox News to leave center podium available for first GOP debate.
Former President Donald Trump Likely to Participate in First Republican Presidential Debate
According to former White House aide Kellyanne Conway, former President Donald Trump is expected to join his rivals at the first Republican presidential debate next month. Despite Trump’s previous statements suggesting he may skip the debate, Conway believes he won’t be able to resist the opportunity to engage with his opponents on stage.
During a Fox News interview on Monday, Conway stated, “If I were you, I would keep that center podium warm because maybe he’ll make the announcement the day of. You just never know.”

Conway summarized the crosscurrents of Trump’s potential participation in the debate. On one hand, he is currently leading the race and may not have much to gain by attending. On the other hand, debating is a natural habitat for him, as demonstrated during his first campaign in 2015 when he surpassed his competitors and eventually became the nominee and president.
Expressing her preference, Conway said, “I hope he goes,” according to Mediaite.
Trump is among a handful of candidates who have qualified for the August 23 debate in Milwaukee, which will be televised by Fox News. Other qualified candidates include Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, as reported by Fox News.
Christie is asked about Trump skipping debates: “Makes my life even better, because then I won’t have to talk over him. He loves to interrupt everybody. I’m going to talk about Trump and his record whether he’s on the stage or not.” pic.twitter.com/RF9nV5Jhaq

According to the Washington Times, Chris Christie believes Trump should attend the debate. He stated, “We’re going to go in there, and he should be on that stage because he owes it to the Republican Party voters to get on the stage, defend his record, and talk about his vision for the future.”
