Food stamps: Last day to receive up to $1,691 in SNAP benefits in Texas.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in Texas
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in Texas is set to issue benefits worth up to $1,691 for the month of July. This is great news for eligible individuals and families living in low-income households.
SNAP recipients in Texas can expect to receive their payments by Saturday. The state has a generous window for issuing payments, which lasts through the first 10 business days of the month. The timing of payment distribution depends on the last digit of the recipient’s Eligibility Determination Group number.
How Much Will You Receive?
The amount of benefits received through SNAP depends on the size of your family. For a single household, the payment will be $281. However, for larger households with eight members, the payment will be the maximum amount of $1,691. You can find more information about benefit amounts on the Texas Health and Human Services Commission website.
How to Use Your Benefits
Once issued, the funds will be deposited onto a Lone Star Card, which functions like a credit card. This card can be used exclusively for purchasing food and beverages, with the exception of alcoholic beverages.
Work Rules and Eligibility
It’s important to note that recipients between the ages of 16 and 59 must adhere to work rules. This means that they must either be employed, actively seeking employment, or participating in an approved work program. Quitting a job without a valid reason is not allowed.
SNAP is available in all states, including Washington, D.C., and benefits are loaded onto cards similar to Texas’s Lone Star Card.
