‘Sopranos’ star angered by Supreme Court’s defense of religious freedom.
Actor Michael Imperioli was outraged by the recent Supreme Court ruling that struck down a Colorado law. The law would have required a Christian graphic designer to create a website for a same-sex wedding. In response to the ruling, Imperioli took to Instagram to express his frustration.
The Supreme Court’s decision in the case of 303 Creative LLC v. Elenis cited the First Amendment, stating that Lorie Smith could not be forced to design websites that conflicted with her religious beliefs.
Imperioli, best known for his role as Christopher Moltisanti in “The Sopranos,” vented his anger in his Instagram post. He declared, “I’ve decided to forbid bigots and homophobes from watching The Sopranos, The White Lotus, Goodfellas, or any movie or TV show I’ve been in.”
Continuing his rant, Imperioli thanked the Supreme Court for allowing him to discriminate against those he disagrees with. He added, “Hate and ignorance is not a legitimate point of view. … America is becoming dumber by the minute.”
Imperioli, a strong supporter of the LGBT community, frequently shares his views on social media. Last week, he wrote, “HAPPY PRIDE 2023! Much love to all…stay strong, be fearless, be proud. And make sure to register to VOTE so we can get the bigots out of office!”
He is particularly vocal in his support for the transgender movement. Earlier this year, he posted a trans flag with the message, “Dear brothers, sisters, and siblings. Fear not, be strong, and don’t let the bastards grind you down. Love you.”
