Tim Sheehy talks economic plans post Senate bid against Jon Tester.
Republican Tim Sheehy Launches Bid for Montana Senate Seat
Republican Tim Sheehy has recently announced his campaign for Montana’s Senate seat, currently held by Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT). As the CEO of Bridger Aerospace and a former Navy SEAL, Sheehy brings a unique perspective to the table. In a recent interview on Fox Business, he discussed his economic plans and emphasized the importance of strengthening the economy.
“[Montanans] don’t want more government in their lives, whether it’s state government or federal government. They want to be left alone to live their lives,”
Sheehy believes in reducing federal oversight and empowering businesses to thrive. He expressed concerns about the impact of President Joe Biden’s economic policies on Montana residents, particularly the record inflation that has led to increased fuel prices. This has negatively affected workers who have to drive long distances, such as farmers, ranchers, and families spread across the state.
“So fuel prices impact our farmers and ranchers and our communities a lot. Families will be spread across the state, where we have only about a million people in the fourth largest state in the country. So a lot of land mass that people have to drive back and forth.”
Sheehy highlighted the frustration felt by Montanans due to stimulus and inflationary policies that have driven up living costs. He specifically mentioned the impact of COVID-19 policies, which led to an influx of people moving to Montana during the pandemic. This, in turn, increased business costs and the need for more staff.
Sheehy’s entry into the Senate race has already garnered significant attention, as it is expected to be one of the most closely watched races in the country in 2024. In his campaign announcement, he criticized the Democratic Party’s agenda, citing issues such as inflation, open borders, crime, and the influence of “woke” culture in classrooms and military bases.
Sen. Jon Tester, Montana’s lone statewide-elected Democrat, is seen as a target for Republicans, who currently hold a 51-49 majority in the Senate.
