This report is a follow-up to Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, hyping the film Entertainment Weekly. He stated that the film would focus primarily on the dynamic between Larson and Carol Danvers, Teyonah Paarris’ Monica Rambeau and Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan.

“That’s what the entire movie is about,” He stated. “There are fun cosmic elements to it. Marvel comic fans will recognize elements of the Kree-Skrull war. And it’s picking up directly after the end of Captain Marvel 1, not in timeline but in story. We also do that in our upcoming Disney+ series Secret Invasionand those are two very different follow-ups to that movie.”

Feige continued, “Tonally, they couldn’t be more different. But there’s something immensely powerful about seeing Monica and Kamala and Carol together in a frame. To me, it’s only akin to the first Avengers movie and seeing the six of them together in a frame. It’s chill-inducing. They’re so great together, and they all have different histories with one another.”

“The great thing about Kamala in her show, and now in this movie, is that she’s not unlike Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in Civil War. She can’t believe she’s with these other heroes, and can’t believe that she finds herself in these places. And that’s fun because we want to be that. I want to be that,” He concluded.

Entertainment Weekly also reported that Vellani’s Ms. Marvel would steal it. “I’m very proud of the Ms. Marvel show. I also know — and this is a spoiler — she essentially steals The Marvels, which is coming out [July 28].”

Feige did however hint that not everyone actually watched the show. Ms. Marvel Disney+ “It makes me excited that people will, I hope, see that movie and then go back and revisit those shows on Disney+. the fun thing about streaming is they are there forever, and people can keep re-exploring them.”

Iger answered questions about cutting costs for the company’s film and TV productions during The Walt Disney Company’s Q1 Fiscal Year 23 Earnings Results Call. Iger partially answered the question. “We are going to lean more into our franchises, our core franchises, and our brands. I talked about curation in general entertainment. We have to be better at curating the Disney, and the Pixar, and the Marvel, and the Star Wars of it all.”

“And, of course, reduce costs on everything that we make. While we are extremely proud of what’s on the screen, it’s gotten to a point where it’s extraordinarily expensive. We want all the quality. We want the quality on the screen, but we have to look at what they cost us,” He concluded.

Marvel Studios could have postponed The Marvels in order to allow it to be improved. Marvel Studios tried the same thing with Ant-Man, the Wasp: Quantumania. Paul Rudd was actually required to reshoot scenes one month before the film’s release.

The Critical Drinker stated that it did not improve the quality of the film. “Watching this movie is like eating a Big Mac for the 500th time in your life. Just another iteration of the same formula that’s exactly what you expect from start to finish and leaves you feeling vaguely dirty and disappointed in yourself afterwards.”

He also mentioned, “It’s just the same crap regurgitated once more.”
