“Gladiator” Star Russell Crowe Shares Details About Upcoming Ridley Scott Sequel: “It’s Not a Remake”
Maximus is unlikely to appear in the sequel because he died at its end. Gladiator, Russell Crowe (the actor who played the part), says that there are no plans for him to return, not even for a flashback. Part two will instead focus on Maximus, a young boy Maximus saved while he was a child.
Gladiator 2000: Defeating the undefeated
“Yeah, we’ve had dinner and talked about it and all that stuff. So I know roughly how he’s [Ridley Scott] shaping the story,” Crowe stated on The Fitzy & Wippa Podcast About what he knows. “But yeah, if you remember, there was a young kid who wanted to beat the Gladiator, which leads to the ‘My name is’ speech.”
Crowe doesn’t know much about the film, but he knows what it is. “So that young kid has grown up, and he’s now the Emperor. I don’t know what else happens at that point, so that’s the idea. So it’s not a remake. And it’s not a direct sequel. It’s not like the day after, you know, 30 years later or something,” He concluded.

Ridley Scott will be returning to direct from a script written by his collaborator All the Money in the World David Scarpa. Scott said that the sequel, which is not directly related to Napoleon, has been in production for at most five years. Kitbag Staring Gladiator’s villain Joaquin Phoenix.

He said, “They felt artificial and so, when I was asked to consider a script, the script was not very good.” Scott recalls being given an illustration titled “For Those About to Die” In which a man is “about to tuna fork this poor bastard” The Coliseum. After seeing the film, he was convinced and wanted to make it.
“He’s got this thing in his neck, and he’s looking up for permission to kill…” Scott said: “that’s never been done properly before. Never. I said, I’ll do it. He said you will? I said yes. Did you want to read the script? I said no, and we went off and hit the ground running around the table, and evolved the new material.”
Gladiator (2000): Undefeated Bleeds
The casting process is underway. Paul Mescal (Irish actor) will star as Lucius, the young son of Lucilla Nielsen (Connie Nielsen). Crowe mentioned him as the main character the movie meets up with after 30 years. Ridley Scott also worked behind-the scenes with other names, including the former. The release date has not been set.
