House Republicans Are Investigating Damning Evidence Of Corruption, Not Hunter Biden

After their attack on Republicans for not spending enough time to discuss and negotiate the rules for the 118th Congress’ leadership, corporate media executed a perfect coordinated pivot to assail Republicans for investigating Hunter Biden. But House Republicans, now in the majority, aren’t investigating Hunter Biden: They are investigating evidence of corruption by Joe Biden and the FBI, as well as other government actors’ efforts to run defense for the now-president, including by pressuring private companies to censor speech.

Republicans have regained a majority in Congress and now control oversight committees such as the Oversight and Government Reform Committee and Judiciary Committee. They also have the power to subpoena. The House also passed a temporary resolution establishing a Select Subcommittee to the Weaponization and the Federal Government. This was shortly after Kevin McCarthy, the newly elected Speaker, gaveled in the new Congress. It will be headed by Jim Jordan, the Republican chair of the Judiciary Committee.

The Oversight Committee has a new official chair in Comer. announced It is “investigating the Biden family’s domestic and international business dealings to determine whether these activities compromise U.S. national security and President Biden’s ability to lead with impartiality.” “Members of the Biden family have a pattern of peddling access to the highest levels of government to enrich themselves, often to the detriment of U.S. interests,” The announcement continued and stated that the committee was “committed to following the Biden family and associates’ money trail — consisting of many complex, international transactions worth millions of dollars — and providing answers to the American people.” 

Comer made several moves last week to move the investigation forward, including by first by requesting from the Department of the Treasury any Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) generated by banks that flagged the suspicious financial activities of Hunter Biden, Jim Biden (the president’s brother), and an array of Biden family associates and related companies. Comer also sent letters to three other high-ranking Twitter executives, including James Baker (the former deputy general counsel for Twitter) and Yoel Roth (the former global head for trust and safety at Twitter), requesting that they appear at
