Biden Says He Has Cancer in Latest Gaffe

President Joe Biden said that he, and many others he grew up with, have cancer. The president made the comment in Massachusetts on Wednesday while delivering remarks on the climate, and his administration’s plan for clean energy.

“I just lived up the road, at an apartment complex, we moved to Delaware. And just up the road, a little school I went to, Holy Rosary grade school,” said Biden. “And because it was a four-lane highway that was accessible, my mother drove us and rather than us being able to walk. And guess what? The first frost, you know, you had to put on your windshield wipers to literally get the oil slick off the window. “

“That’s why I and so damn many other people I grew up [with] have cancer, and why for the longest time, Delaware had the highest cancer rate in the nation,” he said.

The White House correspondent for RealClearPolitics attempted to decode Biden’s strange claim that he has cancer. Philip Melanchthon Wegmann tweeted after the comment that Biden “spent a good deal of time in the Sun in his youth,” a White House doc noted, and that “he has had several non-melanoma skin cancers removed.”

“This is perhaps what POTUS referred to when he blamed pollution for why ‘I and so damn many other people I grew up [with] have cancer,'” Melanchthon Wegmann noted.

“It is well-established that President Biden did spend a good deal of time in the sun in his youth. He has had several localized, non-melanoma skin cancers removed with Mohs surgery before he started his presidency. These lesions were completely excised, with clear margins. Total body skin exam was performed for dermatologic surveillance. Several small areas of actinic change were treated with liquid nitrogen cryotherapy, but there are no areas suspicious for skin cancer at this time,” the White House health report stated.

The president has pledged on several occasions that cancer would be cured during his time in office.

President Biden announced several new executive steps in his fight against climate change during the otherwise uneventful speech, though he fell short of declaring a climate emergency, as some had speculated he would.

Biden did say, however, that climate change is “an emergency” and that he would use “the power [he] has as president” to “turn these words into formal, official government actions through the appropriate proclamations, executive orders, and regulatory powers that a president possesses.”

These initiatives include $2.3 billion in funding for programs that help communities’ preparedness for natural disasters by expanding flood control and retrofitting buildings.
