White House Press Secretary Faces Backlash Over Abortion Rights Claim
Former White House Press Secretary and current MSNBC host Jen Psaki found herself in hot water after making a controversial statement about abortion rights in the United States.
The controversy began during the first GOP debate of the 2024 primary, when former Governor Nikki Haley (R-SC) challenged the White House on their stance. Haley asked, “Are they for 38 weeks, are they for 39 weeks, are they for 40 weeks? Because that’s what the media needs to be asking.”
Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) chimed in, stating, “What the Democrats are trying to do on this issue is wrong — to allow abortion all the way up to the moment of birth.”
Psaki responded with a tweet that said, “No one supports abortion up until birth.” However, critics quickly pointed out that there were indeed people who supported late-term abortion, and many of them were from Psaki’s own political party.

Podcast host Megyn Kelly responded, “Yes, they do. And they’re all Democrats.” Others joined in, providing evidence of Democratic politicians supporting late-term abortion.
Psaki’s claim was further debunked when John Hasson shared a link to the Democrat-supported Women’s Health Protection Act, which would have allowed abortion up to the moment of birth and required taxpayers to fund them.

Psaki’s claim was further undermined by a map shared by @TRHLOfficial, which showed seven U.S. states with no restrictions on abortion at any stage of pregnancy.

The DeSantis War Room compiled a video showcasing various Democratic officials expressing their support for unrestricted abortion, including Senators, Mayors, Governors, and a former gubernatorial candidate.
