Tragically, at least three people have lost their lives in a devastating mass shooting in Southeast Washington, D.C., as confirmed by the Metropolitan Police Department.
The horrifying incident took place shortly before 9 p.m. EST in the 1600 block of Good Hope Road in Anacostia.

According to the police, a total of five individuals were shot, with two of them requiring immediate transportation to a nearby hospital.
Among the deceased victims, MPD has identified two men and one woman. The two individuals currently receiving medical treatment at the hospital are both men. Authorities are urging any additional injured individuals to come forward.
In response to the tragedy, Mayor Muriel Bowser has engaged with the authorities to discuss the possibility of enhancing local crime prevention resources.

As of now, MPD has closed the 1300-1700 blocks of Good Hope Road between 13th and Fendall Streets due to ongoing police activity.
