Tim Scott, a 2024 hopeful, raises $6.1 million in Q2.

Sen. Tim Scott Raises $6.1 Million in Second Quarter

Exciting news from Sen. Tim Scott’s presidential campaign! They have announced that they raised an impressive $6.1 million in the second quarter. But that’s not all – Scott also has a whopping $21 million in cash on hand as he vies for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

Qualifying for the Republican Debate

The stakes are high for Scott and other candidates as they strive to qualify for the first Republican debate in August. To make the cut, candidates must have at least 40,000 donors, with a minimum of 200 donors from 20 different states. Additionally, they must reach a 1% threshold in three national polls or a combination of national and early state surveys.

“We can also proudly confirm Tim will be on the debate stage for months to come thanks to over 75,000 donations from over 53,000 unique donors across all 50 states,” said Scott’s campaign manager Jennifer DeCasper in a memo about the fundraising numbers.

Competition and Optimism

Scott is not alone in his pursuit of the Republican nomination. There are about a dozen major candidates who have announced or are exploring bids to challenge President Joe Biden next year. However, former President Donald Trump has been dominating in the polls, closely followed by Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), who raised an impressive $20 million in the second quarter.

Another contender from South Carolina, Nikki Haley, raised $7 million, sparking expectations of a competition for Palmetto State donors between her and Scott.

Scott is banking on the debates to showcase himself as a compelling and optimistic alternative to Trump, especially as big money Republican donors are reportedly expressing dissatisfaction with their options.

“When voters see everyone from President Obama to President Biden, and even the ladies of The View attack Tim Scott, they know it isn’t an accident,” wrote DeCasper. “Tim Scott is the candidate the radical Left fears most.”

Poll Numbers

A recent Economist poll found Scott and Haley tied at 3% nationally, trailing behind Trump at 48%, DeSantis at 22%, and former Vice President Mike Pence at 5%.

Active Campaigning

Since announcing his candidacy, Scott has been actively campaigning in the critical early states, making his presence known and connecting with voters.
