DeSantis memo reveals NH as key focus in 2024 election.
Gov. Ron DeSantis’s Presidential Campaign: Rising Above the Hype
Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R-FL) presidential campaign is determined to silence any doubts about his bid for the White House. Amidst growing speculation that he is being overshadowed by former President Donald Trump, the campaign has unveiled a confidential memo outlining their future strategy for the 2024 presidential race.
“Not for distribution.”
Investing Wisely: Prioritizing New Hampshire
The memo reveals that the campaign has decided not to invest in Super Tuesday states like Tennessee and Alabama at this time. Their reasoning? They don’t want to divert resources away from New Hampshire, a crucial battleground. While Super Tuesday is undeniably important, the campaign aims to maintain their momentum in New Hampshire before revisiting their investment strategy in the fall.
The super PAC Never Back Down, which supports DeSantis, has different plans. They intend to deploy 80 field operatives in California, a Super Tuesday state, according to Kristin Davison, the PAC’s chief operating officer.
Assessing Rivals: Tim Scott and Beyond
The campaign memo doesn’t shy away from taking shots at some of DeSantis’s rivals, particularly Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC). While acknowledging Scott’s merits, the memo suggests that his biography lacks the fighting spirit that the electorate is seeking in the next President. The memo also dismisses other GOP candidates, such as Vivek Ramaswamy, Doug Burgum, Nikki Haley, Mike Pence, and Chris Christie, as lacking viability in the eyes of many voters.
However, the memo highlights that DeSantis and Trump are the two leading contenders for the Republican nomination, consistently outperforming other Republican hopefuls in primary polls.
Engaging with Voters: Town Halls and Cookouts
The campaign emphasizes the importance of connecting with voters through town hall events. DeSantis’s message resonates well in these gatherings. The memo reveals plans to host events featuring cookout-style, backyard activities, specifically targeting primary voters in Iowa and New Hampshire.
Future Focus: Key Topics and Debates
The memo outlines the campaign’s clear guidelines for the upcoming months. DeSantis plans to focus on key topics, including securing the southern border, strengthening the economy, foreign policy and China, and preparing for the first GOP primary debate in Milwaukee on August 23. The memo also teases future discussions on topics like the woke military, the deep state, and school choice.
