Leah Harnden, a parent whose child attends the school, expressed her deep sorrow, saying, “It hits home knowing that a child was dropped off and didn’t get to come home to their family. I cried because it’s not right.”

The family of Yahshua released a statement, expressing their gratitude for the support they have received and their struggle to comprehend why this tragedy occurred. According to Plummer, Yahshua was not dressed for gym class and was instructed to run, despite not feeling well. She claimed that he had asked for water and complained of difficulty breathing before collapsing.
Plummer also revealed that Yahshua’s mother, who teaches physical education at another school in the district, had warned school officials about the heat. Despite her warning, Yahshua was still sent out for physical education class.
The incident occurred during a period of excessive heat, with temperatures reaching between 100 and 109 degrees. Dr. Branden Turner, a family and sports medicine physician, emphasized the need for adjustments to ensure the safety of children during heat waves.
